Fokje Das![]() About meFokje was born in 1960 in the beautiful, old town of Amersfoort, in the Netherlands. As a child she loved to draw and to paint. She was encouraged by her family. Her mother made their own clothes and her father was always trying to improve the house. He built for instance a lovely dollhouse for Fokje. Her grandparents also helped a lot to stimulate her imagination. Her grandmother was wonderful in reading bedtime stories to her and her granddad could tell exiting stories he just made up himself. The work of Fokje is not an exact copy of reality. You could call her an expressionist. She still believes that fantasy is more important than reality. She likes to say: 'If you want to see the reality take a picture. The reality is what you experience when you look at a painting' This is what she wishes for you, as a viewer. That you look at her work and make up your own story or image. Fokje mostly uses acrylic paint on paper or canvas. The reason for this is that acrylic paint dries up very quickly so you can continue to work. She paints for her own pleasure but you can also commission her to paint. She participated in a lot of exhibitions and art markets, as you can read under tab "about me". Her paintings are bought by customers in the Netherlands as well as in France and Italy. Please note also, that she gives private lessons to (young) children with the aim to give them the love for art and to stimulate their creativity. Creativity is within every human being. The only thing that one sometimes need is a nudge in the right direction. Being able to help people to see it is a tremendous boost fot her own work. |
